Hello

Hello!

My name is Casey and this is a project I have been working on with my wife Jane. This is not the first project we ever started, but it is the first one that will be considered "complete". We gave ourselves 1 month to work on this in our spare time. We both have fulltime jobs so we did not have a huge amount of time to allocate to working on this, but a couple hours after work here and there, and longer sessions on the weekend allowed us to get this far in 2 weeks as of writing this. Jane has created ALL of the art assets for this game, and I worked on the programming. I wouldn't say I was a total beginner when I started, but pretty close to that. At this point I have learned quite a lot but still consider myself to be a beginner for sure. Jane's art style is consistently improving as well and I was already extremely proud of the work she provides, but she is just getting started and I am very excited to see what her art looks like in a year from now. This project was meant to teach us the basics and give us a foundation to build off of for future games and it has absolutely done that.

So we finally feel comfortable to share the game with friends and anyone else who happens upon it. There are still incomplete aspects of this build. The options menu is not functional or even close to complete but will be a major focus in the next 2 weeks. Level 3 exists but there are no obstacles and the background needs to be updated. The pause screen, game over screen and congratulations screen are all totally missing art and will be made to look much nicer in the future (but the buttons work!) There is an issue with the scrolling backgrounds where there is a little seam that is visible as it scrolls by and it annoys the hell out of me. I have a fix in mind for it and it will be resolved soon for the final version. There are other issues as well but these are the standouts. I plan to fix as much of them as possible before 05/08/2023 which is the date we planned on shelving this project and calling it complete.

Obviously I would love to hear your feedback if you happened upon this project. Its obviously not an earth shattering experience but I am still proud to have made it this far!
